This article explains how to broadcast on Mixlr using DJ software – Traktor, an external MIDI controller – Traktor S2, and Soundflower. You’ll be using Traktor to mix tracks from your PC, the S2 to control your levels crossfader etc and Soundflower to pass the audio between them.
As the S2 has no available inputs, you will need to set up an Aggregate Device and use Soundlfower to route the audio between the S2 and Mixlr. These instructions would apply to any MIDI controller with no inputs.
Step 1 – Download Soundflower
If you don’t have Soundflower installed already, you can download it here.

Step 2 – Create an Aggregate Device
Go to Audio Midi Setup on your mac – which can be found here:
Then a new device by clicking the + icon in the bottom left-hand corner. Then set-up the aggregate device as follows:
TIP – Remove any unrequired Aggregate Devices, as we have received reports of conflicts within Traktor.
Step 3 – Open Traktor preferences
You will find the audio preferences in Traktor’s settings:
Step 4 – Traktor Audio Setup
Ensure the Audio Setup settings in Traktor are as follows:
TIP – If the Aggregate Device doesn’t appear as an Audio Device – quit Traktor and restart.
Step 5 – Traktor Output Setup
Ensure the Output Routing settings are as follows:
Step 6 – Traktor Recorder Setup

The audio recorder in Traktor needs to show signals coming through, as pictured below. You will not need to press the record button.
Step 7 – Open Mixlr
Open the Mixlr app. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can do so here.
Step 8 – Mixlr Setup
Select Soundflower (2 ch) as your audio source and ensure the VU meter is registering the sound:

Create a new device by clicking the '+' icon in the bottom left-hand corner, and select 'Create Aggregate Device'.
Select to use Traktor Kontrol S2 and Mixlr AudioLink for your new aggregate device.
You may want to rename your new aggregate device to make it easier to find later.

Select the aggregate device in the Mixlr app
Open the Mixlr desktop app.

Click 'Select Source' for the MIC or ANY INPUT channel and select 'Mixlr / Traktor [your aggregate device name] > Channels 1 and 2'.
TIP: if you're having problems with the Mixlr app receiving audio signal, check that you have the latest Traktor drivers installed. You can download the latest drivers here.
